Zonca is currently a member of RIVE Italia, the Italian network of ecovillages. We are also registered as an 'aspiring Ecovillage' through GEN Europe, the Global Ecovillage Network. Visit our page on the GEN website. These affilliations are important to us, even if their purpose is mainly to show moral support and solidarity for the principles underpinning the creation of ecovillages —sustainability, holistic living, collectivity and so on.

Zonca is different from most ecovillages which are established from onset as intentional communities. Most properties within the community are privately owned as we transition from the modality of a traditional village or community. There is no collectively held ideology or belief system we ascribe to other than that everyone who arrived here is aware of the increasing threat to global health and security posed by modern industrial society and the loss of freedom this entails.

RIVE and GEN represent not merely a mode of connecting ecovillages and sustainable projects, but also powerful tools that communities can avail themselves of to address concerns and breakdowns as we seek to improve wellbeing in a sustainable, viable, inspiring and empowering way.

About GEN
The Global Ecovillage Network envisions a world of empowered citizens and communities, designing and implementing pathways to a regenerative future, while building bridges of hope and international solidarity. Imagine a world living abundantly, while within its limits. A world that is regenerating rather than depleting the environment, and where cooperation and connection is rewarded. GEN aims to create such a world by spreading the physical and cultural technology of ecovillages.

GEN is more than just a network of communities —whatever that means— it is above all an organisation dedicated to improving quality of life and prospects for the whole planet. At GEN 2018, a global gathering, participants from communities around the world will be offered workshops and lectures designed specifically to promote healing and insight, to share skills and knowledge necessary to transforming obstacles to cooperation and connection. These are part of a range of skills and insights for creating a sustainable world. The GEN website offers a wide range of resources for those who wish to read up on, share or train to improve their skills and get involved in their own communities, whether urban or rural.

In addition, GEN offers a range of volunteer opportunities both within its own organisation and in connected communities.
