Directions: How to get to Zonca

Zonca can be reached from the Swiss border via the main road from Brig, over the Simplon pass (Sempione in Italian) through Domodossala to Villadossola (look for the signs “Valle de Antrona”).

Domodossola has an international train station. It is possible to buy a ticket in the train. You need a creditcard or bankcard.

From Domoddosola there is a busservice to and from Milan Malpensa airport. From Domoddosola and Villadossola there are also buses to Vale de Antrona (to get to Zonca). But busservices are infrequent and it is better to get a car ride.

Zonca can be accessed in two ways: from behind the church in Seppiana (which is on the main road of Valle de Antrona) there is a footpath leading up to Zonca. The path is marked. It is a 45 minute uphill climb, relatively steep in places though well paved, but not suitable for anyone who is not in good physical condition. The path is bisected towards the end by a road which must be followed to the parking place where it resumes (on the right) for another 50 meters until you reach the church of Zonca.

A second, easier approach is from Barboniga. Turn right after Cresti and follow the road way up until you reach the parking place of Barboniga (there are letterboxes).

In addition, there is a paved road that starts just beyond Seppiana. Access to this road is controlled with a red and white barrier and it is officially only accessible to locals. This road is not in good condition and is rather steep. Parts are unpaved and potholed. The road ends at a parking place just below Zonca.
